I'm forcing myself to remember this today. Last night at the gym, I added more weight to half the machines I use because they were getting too easy. This morning, I am more sore than I have been in weeks, with a killer headache to top it all off. My first instinct is to skip going to the gym tonight, even though it's a cardio night, but rather than make that decision now, I'm going to plow through the day and evaluate how I feel after dinner.
Right now, however, I'm going to get coffee, ibuprofen, and put this on a sticky on the corner of my laptop so I don't forget it today.

No Limits
Friday is my day in my online wellness group, where I'm responsible for posting a topic for discussion. This is what I picked for today, for a lot of reasons. I'm not really reaching a plateau yet on my plan to get healthier in 2015, but this doesn't apply to just fitness. This applies to all areas of our lives. The notion of limits holds too many people back, whether it comes to what they think they can achieve professionally or personally.
So this is my reminder to all of you out there, when it feels like you're running in place and nothing is changing, that it's a struggle all of us face. The trick is to figure out what you need to get past them. Shake up your life. Make a change, even if it's a small one.
And have a terrific weekend. :)

Words of Wisdom
I'm having a rough morning. I made the mistake of reading comments on an article I knew would be controversial. Though I try to live by the desire to respect an individual's beliefs/desires (as long as it doesn't hurt or negatively impact on another's life), sometimes, I really loathe how closed-minded and prejudiced people can be.
So I'm trying to focus on this today:

Wednesday's Words
I've been re-reading a ton of e.e. cummings lately, so today's words aren't so much affirmations as it is sharing my absolute favorite piece of his.

Today's Words of Wisdom

Daily affirmation...and book art on Etsy
This graphic is actually available on Etsy to purchase. I'm a sucker for book art. I have a number of variations of prints on old book pages framed in my house, and when I found this one, I knew I had to point out the seller to my readers. She has a nice variety of prints available, including a special deal if you buy three.
I firmly believe in supporting independent artisans. They do it for the love of the craft most of the time, and the last thing I want is for creativity to be stifled. Go check her out!

Everyone Is Gay
Like a lot of people, I fell in love with the song "Say Something" by A Great Big World in recent months. It's just stunning. On a whim, I decided to pick up the CD last week and put it in the car.
My daughter and I might have a favorite new band. We haven't even made it through the whole CD yet and we think that. We keep hearing songs and going back to listen to them again, that's how much we love them.
For the most part, the CD is nothing like "Say Something" in mood. Where that one is melancholy and haunting, most of the rest are buoyant and positive. The melodies are often simple, but they are so damn catchy. Yes, it's pop, but I'm not ashamed to admit I can be a pop fan, too.
Our favorite, however, BY FAR, is a song called "Everyone Is Gay." My daughter's comment after we listened to it the first time was that while she loved a lot of the other songs out there that were in support of the LGBTQ community, it was great to hear one with so much joy and hope and humor. It embraces everyone, and do you know how great it is to see bi-inclusivity when bisexuality is often ignored/denied/erased? The song gives me hope, makes me laugh, and just utterly charms me.
When my husband got home, we made him listen/watch the video because it made us smile so much. We walked out of his office when it was over, and he immediately started whistling it. That's how catchy it is.
What sucks is that they're in our area this weekend for their tour and we can't go. Why didn't we figure out we loved them so much months ago? Damn it.

Another World
On days (weeks) like this, I need reminders that all the hard work will pay off. This quote gets me through it, because it applies to so much - the social change our world so desperately needs, my writing worlds, my personal life and my fight to stay strong and healthy.
